Why Volunteer?
Hope Ministries is a volunteer based organization which has been blessed with many wonderful, hardworking, dedicated individuals. Volunteers of all ages assist us with their time, talents, and resources on a daily basis. Some volunteers spend only a few hours a week helping out, while others spend several days of the week with us. It's all up to the individual’s availability and preference.

Food Pantry
There are many opportunities to serve in our Food Pantry. Below is a listing of some of these positions and their descriptions.
Food Pantry Worker: This worker is responsible for packing (bagging) and distributing the food for distribution to families. Food Pantry Workers are needed on both packing and distribution days.
Stocker: This worker is responsible for stocking the shelves in the warehouse with newly delivered products. Stockers will also make sure the warehouse area is kept clean and organized.
Greeter: This worker greets clients as they come through the door and determines if they are a new or existing client.
Record Keeper: This worker is responsible for processing existing clients for food distribution using our computer database. The Record Keeper pulls their clients file and records the allotted food amount for the day. They are required to have some basic computer knowledge, be willing to pray with the clients and capable of sharing the gospel if an opportunity presents itself. Director approval and special training will be required.
Intake Counselor: This worker is responsible for processing all new and updating clients for food distribution using our computer database. The Intake Counselor determines the client's individual needs and records the client's personal household information into our secure database. They are required to have some basic computer knowledge, be capable of sharing the gospel and willing to pray with and for the clients. Director approval and special training will be required.
Loader: This worker assists with delivery of the packaged food items to the client's vehicle. If a cart is used, the Loader is required to return the cart to the building.
Driver: This worker picks up food from the various supply points and delivers them to our warehouse. The Driver must have the ability to physically and safely lift up to 40 lbs. or move up to 200 lbs with a dolly or assistance of another individual. Drivers are required to be approved by our insurance company and the Hope Ministries Delivery Manager.

Thrift Store
There are several opportunities to help out in our Thrift Store. Below is a listing of some of these positions and their descriptions.
Department Manager: This worker is responsible for maintaining their appointed department in the Thrift Store. They are required to price, stock and display all new merchandise in their area. They are encouraged to keep a clean and organized space with easy access to all departments. Supervision and job assignment of Department Assistant Manager, Clerks and Merchandising Associates will be necessary.
Department Assistant Manager: This worker assists with the various responsibilities assigned by the Department Manager.
Department Clerk: This worker assists with the upkeep of the department area as assigned by the Department Manager.
Merchandising Associate: This worker is responsible for cleaning new merchandise and making minor repairs on items that are in salvageable condition. A Merchandising Associate will also assist in creating unique and interesting displays if requested by the Department Manager.
Sales Hostess: This worker is responsible for greeting customers as they come in, informing them of the various sales throughout the store, assisting them in locating items, and tidying all areas of the store as needed.
Sorter: This worker is responsible for sorting all incoming donations into the various departments. It is vital that the Sorter maintains organization of merchandise in all sorting areas and the stockroom.
Tester: This worker is responsible for testing all incoming merchandise that requires batteries or plugs into the wall. If the tester is knowledgeable in this area, they may also be asked to make minor repairs to some of these items, as needed.
Cashier: This worker is responsible for taking cash/credit card payments from customers in exchange of goods or services. Cashiers are expected to greet customers as they arrive and provide them with information regarding current sales. They are also responsible for managing the cash drawer during the work day. At the end of each shift, cashiers are expected to tally funds and ensure that everything is in order. Cashiers sometimes work double as a customer service representative and are expected to provide customers with a positive shopping experience. It is necessary for this worker to have basic computer knowledge with a proficiency in, or ability to learn, the basic use of QuickBooks POS. Director approval and special training will be also be required.
Delivery/Pickup Driver: This worker picks up new donations and delivers sold merchandise to and from the homes of local residences. The Driver must have the ability to physically and safely lift up to 40 lbs. or move up to 200 lbs with a dolly or assistance of another individual, without injury or damage to themselves or the merchandise. Drivers are required to be approved by our insurance company and the Hope Ministries Delivery Manager.
Delivery/Pickup Driver's Assistant: This worker assists the Delivery/Pickup Driver with pickups and delivers of donations and sold merchandise to and from the homes of local residences. The Driver must have the ability to physically and safely lift up to 40 lbs. or move up to 200 lbs with a dolly or assistance of another individual, without injury or damage to themselves or the merchandise. Drivers are required to be approved by our insurance company and the Hope Ministries Delivery Manager.
Custodian: This worker is responsible for keeping the over-all cleanliness of the building. They will be required to maintain and disinfect the bathrooms, clean the floors, dust shelves, take out the garbage, etc. This job is vital to our organization and very well appreciated.
